Eats
Make reservations for brunch, lunch, or dinner at any of our favorite restaurants below. We make a few suggestions for casual, no frills dining, and some upscale options that blend attentive service and a quality culinary experience. Most of these locations usually offer outdoor seating for those observing physical distancing guidelines.
Port Townsend Food Co-op has everything you need for your day out in nature. Grab sandwiches, ready-made wraps, soups, sides, and snacks from the deli. Try to tiramisu cake slice. It’s divine. Steer clear of the boxed lemon torte and the chocolate eclairs.
Pane d’Amore, a local favorite. Get a box of desserts and take it to Fort Worden Beach and munch while you people watch and take in the ocean sights. We recommend the gluten-free chocolate walnut cookie, pizza focaccia, and chocolate croissant. They also have to-go cheeses and meats if you can’t be bothered to be around people…just grab and go to eat quietly on the beach. Note: There are 2 locations in Port Townsend. The one in uptown is the original (Tyler Street) - cute and cozy, no seating. The one downtown (Washington Street) is also grab-n-go and they make monster grilled-cheese sandwiches to order. ($)
The Old Whiskey Mill for pub fare in a relaxed family atmosphere. Same owners as Sirens Pub but much more laid back. Order a side of onions rings with honey mustard, bar-b-que, and ranch sauce —my favorite! (Port Townsend). The vibe is “relaxed sports bar” but you can sit against the wall if you don’t want to see the televisions. Good if you’re starving and like big portions. Good if you want to blend into the background, in a family atmosphere, and enjoy your pub grub without too much interaction bother. Sometimes the wait can be a little because it’s popular. You can always order to-go. They charge a $2 service fee for carry-out. ($)
San Juan Taqueria for casual but delicious traditional, fresh, Mexican food. (In Chimacum but close to Old Fort Townsend, where you’ll have your session with me). Provides outdoor seating, a relaxed atmosphere, and my top choice if you don’t want too much interaction with people before/during/after your mediumship session. I recommend the fish tacos (fried fish) and the burritos are generous. Comfort food or light and healthy, depending on what you order. ($)
Alchemy Steak & Seafood for the perfect blend of “global cuisine and vintage recipes.” See if you can get a seat close to their art deco bar. Cozy and chic. (Port Townsend). Outdoor seating is available. Sophisticated with dim lighting. A good place to eat quietly and hide away. ($$)
Doc’s Marina Grill in Port Townsend is a popular local spot for family gatherings and a menu with enough variety to please every member of you party. Water view if you can get a table next to the window. Order ahead and take out to the nearby benches along the water to eat in quiet, watching the water. ($$)
Finestère is a new, upscale bistro in uptown Port Townsend catering to locals and out-of-towners with an elevated palette. Highly curated menu with farm-to-table ingredients. Minimalist decor with lots of natural light. A local spot. European vibe. Good wine, Fresh seafood. No outdoor seating, so if you’re observing physical distancing, you might consider another spot. This is the only place on my list that I have not been to (because seating is indoor only). ($$)
